MRZ Reader for C•CURE 9000

Extend the capability of your C•CURE 9000 system with the MRZ Reader option.

This plugin allows you to connect a webcam to C•CURE Workstations that can capture and decode the Machine-Readable Zone (MRZ) of many Passports, ID Cards, Drivers’ licenses, etc.

What is the MRZ?

The Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) is the block of text you’ll often see at the bottom of a passport or ID card. It looks like a mix of letters, numbers, and << symbols, but it’s not random. This section contains key details such as your name, document number, nationality, and dates of birth and expiry — all written in a standard format.

The MRZ is designed so that machines, like passport scanners at airports or ID verification tools, can quickly read the information without errors. Instead of typing everything in by hand, the MRZ allows systems to instantly capture your details and confirm they match the visible information on your document.

In simple terms, the MRZ is the “fast-scan” part of your passport or ID that makes identification quicker, easier, and more reliable.

Decoding

Follows the International Civil Aviation Organization specifications (ICAO 9303).

Read and decode Travel Documents TD1, TD2, TD3, MRVA and MRVB (Passports Visas, National ID Cards and other travel documents).
